1000 Nights

Hey guys!

We all have those nights when you can’t sleep, for me it happen more than I would like. And when that happens I listen to some music and drink some tea or something warm so it feels like someone is giving me a hug.  One of my favorites is the Nightea Night tea, a combination of: orange peel, licorice root, chamomile, peppermint, and lavender, stevia leaf and some honey if I have some. This tea helps me to relax and sleep and it even has a great taste.

Now the song. It’s a pop one but is chill and mellow, a just a few drums kicking :D. I’m talking about “1000 Nights” by Frenship, a duo from LA. It has some cute lyrics like: “I've been known to run/ Just to feel the rush” and “For 1000 nights/ I've been a restless soul/ Just wasting time”. There are a lot more but this are my favorites.

Sweet Disaster

Hey guys!

I found this song a few days ago and I just can’t stop listening to it. It’s edgy and it has a catchy chorus, some really good guitar riffs and drum kicks. It’s defiantly one of my favorites right now. I’m talking about “Sweet Disaster” by Dreamers, a punk, indie, electronic band from Brooklyn. The song is about how it feels to just get drunk and forget about everything, easy right? “In a river of champagne”, that sound expensive and I kinda wanna try it someday.

Now for the tea to be in the same theme, let’s have something with a little alcohol. I’m thinking of an Earl Grey Tea Cocktail. This beverage is an energy buster. It has a very mild flavor of tea with a dash of lemon, a touch of lavender and then lightly sweetened with honey simple syrup. All you need is:  Earl Grey tea, gin, honey, lemon juice and lavender. Combine them when the tea is cold and give it a try ;)

Anywhere

Hey, guys!

Here comes that time again, when you have to help me wish happy birthday to a friend. And like always, they get to choose the song and the tea and I’m trying to make their combination work and, at the same time, to appreciate a long friendship. So let’s start!

“Anywhere” by Passenger, that’s her choice and a great one if I may say. This track is calming and soothing and it’s about finding the beauty in anything and admiring places, things and people with that special someone. The artist’s distinctive voice warms you up and wraps you in a lovely embrace. “Oh I'll go anywhere with you” that’s going to get stuck in your head, no wonder she loves this song so much.

Her favorite tea in chamomile and I thought we shouldn’t let it be just this simple thing. Let’s add some lemon or lemon juice, honey or sugar and ice and turn it into a perfect beverage for this warm weather. Alongside with this perfect song, it makes you think of summer. This tea will help you relax and enjoy your life to the fullest.

Kisses and Go drink your tea (and wish my friend “happy birthday!”), I’m already drinking mine.

Happy birthday my dear friend, have a great day and an even better tomorrow!

Monster

Hey, guys!
This time we’ll do an odd one, something in the line of k-pop :P I’m talking about EXO’s new song called “Monster”. This track got me hooked from the first listen. It’s about a love that is more like an obsession and it’s hard to give it up. The truth is that this song’s got some weird lyrics, but the fact that I don’t understand most of them makes them ok J) “You can call me monster” still has a ring to it.

Since we are listening to k-pop, how about a tea that has the same origin as this music genre? I’m suggesting Yujacha, a Korean honey lemon tea. In Korea, it’s traditionally made with the Yuja (유자) fruit (a relative of the lemon), but we’ll make it with lemon for obvious reasons. It has a lot of benefits for your immune system, energy levels, PH balance, digestion and many others.

And here is how you can make the Yujacha base:
Slice several lemons and remove the seeds. Place them in a clean pitcher or in another container, filling it about halfway up. Make sure the lemon slices are completely submerged in the honey so that they don’t spoil. Fill the rest of the container with raw, organic, unfiltered honey. Leave the container in a cool, dark place for about a week. During warm weather you can put the container in the fridge. It’s ready when it’s a thick syrup.

Now making the tea:
Take about 2 tablespoons of the Yujacha tea base and put it into a mug. Fill with boiling water and stir. That is it. Enjoy!

Forever Lost

This is a song that I've loved for the past four years. It's pretty sad, full of melancholic sounds, but it makes me feel good although it’s the kind of song that you would listen to when you feel down.

The song is called "Forever Lost" and it's by God is an Astronaut. Weird name for a band, I know, but I think this is actually one of my favorite names especially when it comes to this music genre. It's called post-rock, the genre that I love the most. This is what I listen to when I'm by myself. The band comes from Ireland and is currently one of the world's biggest instrumental groups. And like all the bands nowadays, they describe their music as "a photograph or a snapshot of who we are in that moment of time". That's pretty great since I love their music.

Like I said before I've known it for the past four years or more. It's a beautiful, relaxing and moving, and absolutely incredible song. It starts a little slow and kind of depressing, but slowly begins building up more and more and by the first minute you are hooked. It's a rollercoaster of emotions. The last 2 minutes build up to the point where you can't let go and you shouldn't. I absolutely adore this song and I wanted to share this experience with you.

Since this could be a song that you listen to when you're down, I think it will pair up nicely with a citrus tea, like orange or lemon, or even better, try honey lemon tea.

Because the scent of citrus has been proven to boost your mood, and tanks to the high level of antioxidants found in tea, this makes a far better choice for the blues than a bottle of Jack Daniel's or a bucket of ice cream, even though you sometimes need that too.
Citrus has a lot of benefits, and in combination with tea all those benefits are doubled. That makes them a must-have, a must-try of the day.

Here is how you should make it, and the ingredients you need:

1 cup of water
2 teaspoons of honey
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

Heat the water, but don't bring it to a boil, then add the honey and the lemon juice and mix until the honey dissolves. That is it. If you want it to be sweeter add sugar.
